Default "Magic" Nightcrawler Catching Method

Anyone ever tried this?: http://www.ehow.com/how_8633320_use-...ler-worms.html

I read about it in a fishing book. Sounds a bit too "magical" to be real. I tried it. Nothing happened and felt like an idiot. I only left the rods in the ground for a few minutes and it was during the day (overcast, rainy though).

We used that method when I lived in Whitecourt.
We would water a patch of lawn for about 10 minutes and then
using straightened metal coat hangers stuck in the wet spots, connect the battery.
It worked most of the times.

They sold a probe a few years ago that you stuck in the ground and plugged in, It worked but I would start watering the lawn about 4 hour ahead of time.

This is something I would hesitate to try myself using 110v. Get it wrong and your wife is a widow.

Before we had electricity we used to sprinkle dry mustard on the areas we wanted to pick. Water it in , and in a few minutes worms come crawling out of the ground. Pick the worms and give them a rinse in cold water immediately.

And yes it really works.

I understand your suspicion, , but I assure you this is legit.

At one time they sold a bag of powder called worm up.(may have been mustard powder?) It worked good but you really had to wash the worms after or they where dead by the next day.

Salt will kill your grass. If you put salt and pepper on worms, may as well put them on the grill too.

With the mustard, you do need to wash them for sure when you pick them,

Mix water + dish soap in a bucket and pour onto your lawn. Wait... collect worms... Fish.

When I was a kid my neighbor did this all the time and I was always surprised how many worms came up. It's been a long time but I don't think there was more to it than that.

I've done it with 12 and 110 volts. Yes, it definitely works - a lot of things come springing from the ground, not just worms.
