Default Cochrane Lake (by Waterton Dam)

Good day all, Im sooooo glad that ice fishing is among us.

Ive heard about Cochrane lake by Hillspring ( not near Calgary )having pike and perch in is. When ever I look it up some people say they catch there but then a local says that it is just a slough and there is no fish in there.

Does anyone know the truth on this lake. Would like to lake the kids there for some fun and not have to drive an hour and a half for perch.

Default No fish there

Nope. There's nothing much there. It draws down too much to sustain fish.

Best keep going and try St.Marys.

Weather was good

Fishing was very slow, by my standards anyhow. About 1 fish/hr and we were doing better than most of the guys i saw Think if we would have been fishing by 7 we would have done alot better We started by daylight and i had several bites in about a ten minite window while trying to get set up and one bite every hour after that....lol
Ended up at Butcher after and it was painfully slow as well

I fished it in the summer and never had a bite. I'm curious to know if there actually are fish in there. Gotta be something.
