Default Interesting fight over ownership of lakes on the Douglas Lake Ranch

http://vancouversun.com/news/local-n...las-lake-ranch

All access is private.

Ranch pays to stock the lakes.

Locals want to fish.

American owner says no.

I don't think there is any right to force a land owner to grant access to water. I think if someone were to fly or helicopter in and land on the lake they would not be breaking any law.

Question is...should all natural lakes be public property?

Are they?

Is access a right?

Another interesting point on this one, is that they aren't really natural lakes, at least the one in question. It has been enlarged by a dam, so the "natural" edge of the lake is submerged. Do the rules change if this is the case? Will be an interesting case to watch go through the system.

Already posted in general discussion here

This encompasses all types of fishing and water sports so I will close it here and you can continue it in the General discussion thread that was already started .
