Default wholesale bait sales anywhere?

So we're moving next week into a place where we'll have room for a mini freezer. I want to know if there's anywhere that sells bait in bulk so i can load that sucker up. Thanks

Don't forget to save some room for the fish you catch.

If you are ever after a giant 2-3kg bag of smelts - Superstore has some and they are pretty darn cheap. I think under $10 if I recall. Crazy cheap.

If you were to buy that at one of the fishing stores - you be in for over $50 bucks for sure (maybe more).

Superstore has previously frozen herring in the fish counter that fluctuates between .29 an .49 per 100g. When it was cheap I asked for a case of frozen ones. Only down side is they are frozen in one big block so I had to put them on a tray at room temp and bagged them up as they thawed just enough to pry apart a layer at a time over a few hours. Still worth the hassle for 10kg of herring for $30.

Yup! As stated below it isn't marketed for bait but it's all the same.

Default Minnows

Last week at Cabela's I bought a small carton of minnows for $5 and just out of curiousity I went over to the Chinese grocery store on Calgary Trail and ~ 30th Avenue. There you can buy a bag of them, 5 times as many, for the same price! I guess that's the difference between sporting goods and groceries!

well thanks everyone! Sounds like the general census agrees that superstore is my best bet.

Also, does anyone have any experience farming worms? From my research, it doesn't look too bad.

Got a 150 of them in a large tupperware container in basement No smell feed them left over vegetables and fruit oatmeal, cornmeal and crushed egg shells
In a mixture of topsoil, peat moss, little shredded newspaper and bunch leaves I collected last fall. Usually keep in garage but its not heated and during the real cold spells they would freeze and die but for 3/4's of winter they can stay in garage
