Default Big Healthy Pike

Hi Guys, wanted to share a beauty pike I caught while fishing with a buddy and his son. The little man was pretty excited.....and so was I! I seen the flag go on the tip up and hustled over as you do. I've never in my life seen that little metal rod spin so fast! He almost took the whole spool so I had to tighten it up on him.I could tell right away he was a dandy. I got him close to the hole and seen him sideways, then he ran once more. Ultimately got tangled up in the litre and came out tail first. I didn't weight him, but he's certainly my best pike in almost 30 years of fishing them. I'm sure a lot of you will know exactly where I was by the pictures! He's back in the water for the next guy to enjoy.

Nice fish! And good on you for releasing it! A lot of those hogs are breeding females.

Thanks team! Sadly I didn't get a length on her. The bait and my litre were about 2 feet into her stomach, so by the time that got sorted out I had to let her go!

Beautiful fish - I am sure your son will remember that day for ever.

What set up were you using?

Thanks guys, it was an old green HT tip up with tinfoil instead of a flag. Dacron backing and a 48" 20Lb mono litre to a quick strike rig.
