Default A few more of our pups

The big male is Jazz, He is no longer with us, The Yellow female is Peanut, A duck hunting and agility machine, And the little Black female is Kizzy, she turned 1 yr old last Oct 7th and made 97 retrieves by Christmas, with no lost birds. The second picture of Jazz, show my Widgeon grand slam, I got on the Lower Columbia river one day, An American, Euro, Storm widgeon. And it happened by luck. These pics are a bit older, other then the B&W, it's last years.

Washington, The ducks where shot on the Lower Columbia river. The date and time on the right is from when I resized them this morning. This fall I hope to add many pictures from Alberta to my memories....

Here is the Lady dog's first goose retrieve. Had a great shoot that day and using the dog for the first was even better. Had both the kids out that day, the boy shot his first goose that morning.

The new under seeded hay field was an early season hunt with lots of birds that morning.

The river flat hunt was an afternoon hunt which normal I don't like but that day I was talking to a guy on the phone after the shoot and the geese were still trying to land. He ask what the noise was and held the phone up so he could hear the birds. Just on of those days.

We really enjoy hunting geese and ducks

Default a couple more

My Dad visited last year from Newfoundland, liked it so much he is coming back again this year.

If anyone is looking for a couple guys to join them on a hunt, I would love to get dad in on a goose hunt. I normally just hunt DU and Alberta conservation sites. Would love to join some fellow hunters on a goose hunt and give my dad a good ole goose hunt.

@MattP, you have likely noticed that most of the best pics here are field shoots, we don't much shoot the birds off the water up here, tends to make them move on.... good luck and contact when u get closer....

Hal, I have noticed that most is done in the field, And also I notice a lot of willow blinds in the middle of the fields. I will get in touch when it gets alittle closer.

ThreeforThree, No I am from Port Orchard, Wa. A Little west of Tacoma, on the Puget Sound. But 80% of my Duck hunting takes place on the Lower Columbia River. And an avid Steelheader, I drift a lot of the rivers on the coast, after duck hunting ends. Is there something in Portland you need me to bring up?

Lets see some more pictures, The sheer amount of birds coming to those fields, Cowtown posted are awesome. All the pics are great

Heck yeah! I'm spooled up for this year, great thread!

Here's a few from last season with my fantastic wife (who is regrettably a better shot than I, and I can admit that here because she doesn't read AO)

I'm pumped for this year, I have been working on some permissions a bit closer to home, which will hopefully translate into more trips into the fields!

I remember as a kid getting off of school racing home on the bike and getting all of dads stuff ready to go hunting that night, it was a 1.5 hour wait ...what was my hurry, I think back then ....the smells, you could taste the gun powder in the air, the ground was turning into fall smells...decay.... so different than todays hunting if we shot a goose it was a celebration. I would pic up the shells and inhale the scent that came from them and then wok them into each other so the brass was at both ends. ...Lay down dad I will rub your back than a duck would fly by and i would grab the gun and shoot ..he would say did ya get him ...no sorry dad, missed ,,you could here him laugh under his breath. We had three boys in our family and we could not all go sometimes because of room in the truck, he had a topper on it and Dad and two uncles where in the front seat and us three boys where on lawn chairs in the back with a topper on it.. we would bang on the windows when we saw a roster , and maybe the music was two loud but we passed a ton of pheasants.

Cat, I think I've said this before but I really am jealous of your hunting style. Old school guns, great mustache, very old school style. I feel like you went to the field in a canvas covered wagon. Very very cool! Hope that someday I can acquire some real nice SxSs and O/Us to shoot over my granddads paper decoys.
