That happened to me too. Good thing it was a cheaper one. I stuck up a he Moultrie Game Spy D40 Digital Game Trail Camera. Got it from Walmart a few years back. Took good picture up till 5 weeks ago until it was broken by I presumed was a bear. So I stuck up a bit better one & this time I got to see the mamma bear with her cubs & one cub was still in the tree where the new camera was. That camera had a hole in the flash & had scratches on the casing from the cubs claws. This time around I also put up a second camera (in video mode) that faces that other camera.
I put up a bit cheaper cameras in that area because I thought if they get plowed under do to site wells going up then it won't hurt as much to lose them. $180 on clearance for $100 seemed cheap enough if something did happen.
However I never thought that a bear would be doing the damage.

The well site needs to be surveyed and flagged up long before its built, same goes for the road. Keep ur cams outside of the pink or orange ribbon!
Bears and elk wreck more cams than anything.

Different WMU King
Well this guy is making my opening day archery plans difficult since wide guy and this buck are about 200km apart
here is the buck I call King (G2 is crowning like a stag a little bit )

Bown, both are nice bucks. My preference if I were hunting them would be the wide one, but I don't focus on scores. Either way, you have two nice bucks to chase the next two seasons. Hopefully you get both

I think the wide one is a class above this buck. Its nice yo have opptions. Are your cams in areas that only support a nov whitetail season, just curious? Seems to be a shortage of mature bucks in the MUs with the long seasons.

I have to agree. I believe King is a younger deer but with outstanding potential. Judging from Mr.Wides brow tines I would expect his tine length to increase and be a very nice buck

I pulled pics this weekend too and will get them up, but it got me wondering about how much growth season is left. Do they come out of velvet around Sep 1? And are they growing right up till then?
Lots of great deer guys, your seasons are looking excited!

Yuup the biggest buck I ever shot still had velvet on sept 27th, he definately grew right through august. However most are getting close to their full potential by the middle of august.

been running cams for 15 years and have watched 100's of bucks grow.
don't think i've ever seen one put on an inch after Aug 12-15th.
maybe bucks grow different in northern MN??.

No both bucks are in areas where archery opens sept.1 so they have just been a bit smarter than the rest of the deer I suppose. ie. i didn't get a day time photo or see wide guy in person until nov. 21 last year but then i saw him 4 days in a row in bow range.
