Default Morning shed trip

Got out for a few hours this morning...Only a few from this year. One funky little moose and one heavy whitetail (7.5 bases and the rest over 5.5+)

Is the dog out for a walk or does he/she shed hunt as well? Some time ago one of the hunting shows on wild tv did a small piece on shed hunting dogs.

I have a Choc Lab as well and while I have never shed hunted myself I'm looking for reason to get her in the field.

It was my first time out this year but the area seems a little quiet with critters.
My dog finds every lose stick while we walk but never a shed. After about 1K she is also behind me trying to trip me up.

Default more sheds

Well put on a few more miles and now over 20 sheds for the week..The whitetail sheds still the best. I roughly scored it close to 78" (24 mass, 25 beam, 29 points) just needed some longer points to go with the mass and browtine.
Moose seem to be pretty healthy...not too bad with ticks.
A pic from Monday's walk.

wow, thats quite the find. I assume you just walk the tree line, cutlines and deer trails or are there other methods to shed hunting?

Default Finally!!

Well I have been watching a few bulls this spring and I decided to go for a little walk this afternoon after work.
Picked up the set...about 300m between the two of them so it wasn't too bad. My first set of 6*6 elk shed!

Way to go Shane!! You obviously put the time in and reap the benefits . Nice Elk sheds, they should be a nice addition to the rest of the bonepile.
I have only found 4 so far this Spring but shed hunting is like hunting ...some days your luckier than others. Don't be shy on posting other sheds you pick up after these.

Yeah the weather and the shed luck has been good! I am still looking for the two big bulls...This little guy was just a lucky bonus! They had just recently been dropped as the blood was still red. I hope things come in threes and I can find the big boys!!!
I will be looking out for this mulie, as I do think he should be a good one with a little more mass and hopefully an increase in back forks.
