Default Dodger VS The Fish.

AND THE SCORE IS.
Dodger: Whitefish - 0.
Perch - 0.
Walleye - 0 ( normal for me )
Pike - 16.
The Fish: Pike - 1 shredded finger and 1 chunk of Dodgers thumb.

I started the day at 5:30 a.m. in 25' of water to try and catch anything but Pike. The goal was for Perch and Walleye just to try something different as I usually fish in 12' of water for Pike. After 2 hours with no bites on came the Smelt for Pike. I fished the Smelt about 6" off the bottom and had no bites for another hour?? So I raised them up a good 10' and the action started. Who has ever caught Pike suspended and not cruising the bottom for food? All the Pike but 1 were 5lbs to 8lbs with the one CRAZEY Pike at 12lbs. This is the one that has drank some Dodger blood and is now waiting for another fisherman to come along. I was just pulling on the leader and reaching down to grab her from the hole when she jumped at me and clamped onto my finger and thumb. So after doing a little dance with Miss Pike she finally slid off ( shredding my finger ) and fell back into the blood filled hole for me to bring her back in. This time I used the needle nose pliers and flipped out the hook and off she went.
I hope everyone got to enjoy the weekend fishing and came home with all body parts intact.

Dodger.

I'd sacrifice some blood and lacerations for a 12lber this morning. Sounds like you had an action filled trip. Where are the pics...

Thats gotta suck but it reminds me of a funny story

Fishing for pike at Carburn a while ago, there were two drunk guys buy us with McDonalds, and they catch a pike, they pull it out of the hole and it had its mouth open, the one idiot said"oh he looks hungry ill give him a fry" so the idiot grabs a fry and sticks his hand and fry in its mouth, well the pike snapped down and the idiot starts waving the fish around making his wounds even worse. The fish finally lets go. The guy walks up to it and it still had its mouth open and the fry was still in its mouth he said "oh i guess he wasnt hungry" so he reaches in again to pull it out and the fish clamped down again. Like honestly this guy was a 2 watt light buld just twice as dimmer.

Good picture. I have tried several times to post pictures but I'm obviously a technical cripple. I will try this p.m. to post pics of the fingers. It's funny to see a picture when the fish takes a shot at us and draws a little of our blood.

Dodger.

What's fishing without that? For my 40 some odd years of fishing I have probably given 4 units of blood. Usually well worth it though.
