Did the Tory's put up another Kim Campbell?

People in Alberta will not put up with a sales tax.
Ralph was the best this province has seen since lougheed.
Anyone who says different does not know what he is talking about.

You mean the Ralph Klein who deregulated power so we pay the highest electrical rates in the country?

The Klein who brought in the Interim Metis Harvest Agreement?

The Klein who sold this province down the river?

The Klein who let infrastructure crumble and now other people have to try and clean up the mess?

Klein who came up with these health boards? Remember this stuff Redford's sister has done started under Klein's watch.

The Klein who brought in the extravagant transitional payments for MLA's booted or retiring from office?

Yep, he was a great one alright!

Matt you are right. But I am tired of everyone saying Klein was the greatest thing since sliced bread and blaming the current bungling administration for his legacy.

A little perspective here:

1) Her expense claims totalled a little over $7,000 in 4 years. Many here do that much on one good business trip or training course.

2) Most/all of this was before Alison Redford was even elected as an MLA, nevermind Premier. We're talking 7 years ago folks. 2005 - 2008. Redford was first elected in 2008.

3) The sister worked as a Government Relations Advisor. That's what those folks do. They go to dinners and fund-raisers. It's their job. She went to Tory dinners, she went to Liberal dinners. She would have went to Wildrose dinners if the party was around then.

4) This was on King Ralphs's and Stelmach's watch, not Redford's.

This is just Wildrose trying to score some points with folks too lazy to actually read more than half a story.

Now all we have to do is figure out a way to blame Ralph and Eddie for the other 85 (so far) illegal campaign contributions and life will be good!!!!!!!

I didn't say I liked it or disliked it. I put some facts around it to put it in perspective.

Surely it can't be personal spite for conservative thinking minds.

If these facts are so obvious and simple, why didn't premier Redford simply hold a press conference and lay them out for us 'lazy' conservatives? Why is she dodging the media so feverishly?

To add to that, I'm pretty sure pigeon-holing everyone with an opinion on this as a conservative is pretty foolish. Taxpayers in general are annoyed, and that's a pretty non-partisan group.

Oko provides facts that are bad about the PCs and I agree with him.

But why Oko do you want to maintain the status quo?

Why would I defend Alison Redford in this instance? Because it had nothing at all to do with her. Read the facts I posted. I'd defend Ralph Klein vehemently as well if people were tring to blame something the provincial government did in 1970 on him.

Facts don't seem to count for much in some circles here. If your opponent is as bad as you say, you shouldn't need to make things up.

I respectfully disagree.

As his legacy continues, we will all see the folly in his ways. Many are already realizing that.

And yes, Redford is the Kim Campbell for the Alberta Tories.

She will draw all the flak that her 2 predecessors failed to fix.

So far, she to blame for, well, everything the party has done in the past.

How can someone, who has been in power for less than a year, be the blame of all thats wrong in the party?

She didnt start this, she trying to fix it. Something Stelmac couldnt do either. He ran.

And anyone who sees it different, doesnt know what they are talking about!

STEELHEAD

FIX what.

Klein left the prov debt free, and made it illegal to run a deficit ever again (stelmach fixed that one)

ReDford campaigned on balanced budgets, accountability and TRANSPARENCY (what the electorate was asking for). The fact that she's the only PC leader to recently host a closed door party meeting has a lot to say about who we have in power now.

This has nothing to do with Klein, it's about Allison ...

... this is my time, I'm going to fix this prov real good, uhmmm ....

First A. Let's bring in a whole lot of new laws (that's for my legal buddies the legal challenge against the tobacco industry will be hundreds of millions and span a decade alone)

next B. we'll FUND a couple dozen studies and commissions on the PRIOR PC corruption to the tune of tens of millions (show everyone I'm different oh BTW nobody will be named or ever get charged, again that's for the legal community).

After that C. we'll bring in a sales TAX so we can pay for the teachers salaries and our pensions - That OUGHT'A fix ole Alberta.

So much for the Alberta Advantage boys .... it's been given away to the socialists !

TBD

P.S. ... I think Brad Wall's jurisdiction SK's the place to go ! Figure that one. If I had mentioned it 10 yrs ago when Lorne Calvert was running the joint you would'a thought me CRAZY !

Haha, as soon as Saskatchewan starts getting good, the libs will show up like the locusts they are and pick the bones clean there before moving on to the next crop. It's what they do, never quite understanding why every geographic location they occupy seems to go in the tank shortly after they arrive. They show up to take advantage of a prosperous region, make fun of the conservatives there, vote in their liberal incompetents, destroy the economy, and move on. Happens all the time.

hal53, you are quite knowledgable on the oil and gas stuff so a couple questions if you wouldn't mind answering

1) did Klein reduce the royalty on oil and gas in his term?

2) does Alberta have the lowest royalty rate in NA?

Curious is all.
