Where do you plan on going to catch golden trout?
I am planning a hike to michelle lakes this summer.

I'd like to cross a golden off the bucket list. There is Barnaby lakes that holds them as well, its a little closer to castle mountain and easier to access than rainy ridge as far as my research goes. We should get a posse together and hike in...

My goal for the year is to catch a trout on the flyrod in every month
of 2014. I have January under my belt, we'll see what kind of weather February offers. I am probably most concerned with May/June though with runoff, as I would really like to accomplish this goal on the rivers. We will see how mother nature co-operates though.

Plan on Buying a pontoon boat so I can get some time in on the trout lakes while the rivers are blown out, then put in some serious time Fishing some new spots I've been eyeing up for a while. Want to catch a brown this year and spend at least one set of my days off fishing much further south then my usual spots. I would like to do at least one hike in trip as well.

To catch a good Damsel/Caddis hatch in June. Weather for the last few years has not been at all cooperative for that. Maybe this year.

Sounds like I'll be moving back to Manitoba this summer, so hopefully that gives me more opportunities.
Before I leave an I'd like to
1. Catch a brown
2. Bull on the fly
3. Couple alpine lakes
4. Brookies and graying- spruce coulee
Manitoba goals:
1. Bass on the fly
2. Catfish on the fly
3. Carp on the fly

That's a lot of goals. But as long as my wife lets me out a little more than last summer, I'll be happy.

BC/AB Trout slam in under a week.
Brown, Cuttroat, Bull, Rainbow (and cutt-bow), Golden, Brookie, and lake trout all in a week span.
The problem would be if it took more than a day or two to catch a golden (hopefully at Rainy Ridge). I've done bull, brown, cutthroat, and rainbow in one day before and could most likely get the brookie in the same day so that would leave a couple days for lake trout and I'd be set! Who's in?

Good luck in Manitoba! I don't think there are any grayling left in spruce coulee. Fished a solid two days in Late December did not see a single one on camera. I think the 4 lb brookies ate them! Didn't see any walleye either. Who knows though.

during runoff, hit some tiny little creeks. I mean the ones that nobody else thinks there are fish in. PM me if you're in southern AB and I'll give you some suggestions.

Them dollies love bacon. You should try a tandem fly setup using a bacon pattern anchored by a pickerel rig pattern. The dollies up here hit it every time.

30" rainbow and hit another windy day on the lake where the trout are gorging on grasshoppers. Hit that once in my life, spectacular.

I want to catch a 16" or bigger brown trout and get better at reading and presenting so I don't get skunked all the time.
