Ouch. Strikemaster is feeling the wrath of Eskimo's e40 marketing campaign methinks.

Great time to be in the market for a new electric auger.

Now that is a deal! If they also threw in a 2nd battery they would for sure stay on top.

I just got an 8" E40 with a composite flite and second battery free last week for $649.

Don't bother PM'ing me for details. The store had it mistakenly priced as a steel flight model and told me the free second battery deal was a promo on stock ordered for the start of the season only and they couldn't get more.

That is mighty cool and for sure an awesome deal. I was very tempted given the weight. I mean 14 lbs... that is crazy. For hoofin it on early ice that really makes a day easier.
I'll be curious to see what you think.

I just got the 10 inch lite flite for my SM40V for XMas. I plan to be using by the 27th. Woot woot!

100% worth it for the weight savings. I've never seen a flite break other than on the Jiffy. And I've seen some abused IONs and SMs.

You'll love the 10", especially if you're sight fishing those whites down there.

I went the other way and bought a 6" Pistol Bit after confirming with Ardisam that it would bolt up to the E40. Pistol Bits will bolt up to the e40, but not ION augers as their shaft is bigger. But on the bright side, e40 and Gen 1 & 3 ION batteries are all interchangeable. So I effectively have four batteries for sled in trips now.

I already had the 10 inch metal flite. And yes, great for sight fishing the whites
I was looking to lighten the load this year and it was either the E40 or the lite flite. Stuck with the lite flite. Definitely shed some weight. Got it on / attached this morning. First review is that the shaft bolt is held in by one nut that is seated in plastic resin... that surprised me. Pretty cheap approach and hope it holds up to the torque of many holes.

Default Battery Life

Ok so getting the SM40V 8".

How many 2-3' holes will it drill with the one battery?

I would conservatively only drill 12-16 holes per outing. One battery good enough?

Thanks

SMs are notorious for wobbling flites due to that connection. More of an annoyance than anything though. I haven't heard of any failing.

I have been using my sm40 for 1 year and I think I have only gotten my battery down as far as half….after drilling about 20 ish holes in a day with deep ice. Wobbly flight does happen every once in a while but it’s usually when the connection bolt is loose. Not really a concern once I tighten it. Someone posted about using a longer bolt with a lock nut on it. That’s about the only thing I would change on mine.

I've definitely emptied the battery on my SM40 but I drilled a ton of holes. Maybe 100 that day?? It takes a lot to kill the battery if she's full and you keep it warm. And the composite flight is phenomenal. Super light and the ice just wicks off.

I have a SM 40V with 10" steel flyte and 8" lite flyte. With the 10" steel flyte I can cut 40 -50 holes through 34"-36" of ice on a fully charged battery.
