Default 50-100 yard rim fire scope???

I bought a good cz .22 and need some glass, with the high bolt throw does anyone have some good suggestions on what’s been working on the guns.

Use medium rings, then you can put pretty much any scope on you want. I put some vortex tactical rings on my CZ and they work great, not to mention look badass.

A scope with a small ocular is what you are looking for.
This is a weaver rv9 on a cz 452. Ocular measures about 1.5 inch. Objective lens sits close to the barrel, scope covers just fit.

Most Leupolds will work as they generally have small ocular lenses. I've got a 3-9 x 40 vx-2 on another 452. Ocular measures just under 1.6 inch. Objective sits within 1/10 inch of the barrel.

Bushnell 3500 4-12 x 40 on a 17hmr cz 455 sporter. Ocular measures about 1.6 inch. Objective sits low with about 1/10 inch gap between the barrel.

I'm sure that there's other scopes that accommodate the bolt throw, but those have worked for me.

I tried the Leopold medium rings and the busnell rim fire scope 6-18 and the zoom nob is thick enough that the bolt hits it a bit, lots of the rim fire scopes are thick on the zoom ring,, it’s troubling for sure

Which cz is it? If it's a 452 American, you'll have special needs when it comes to rings that fit the weird dovetail. Mine has a vx-1 rimfire 2-7x28 on it. I believe the ocular is also 28 mm. Plenty of clearance with the Talley medium rings. I believe the vx-1 3-9 works with the same rings.

I put on the 2 piece picatiny bases first then the rings. Now I have plenty of room with a Cabelas Covenant 4-16x44 scope

Sorry, I thought you were asking about a scope for your cz.

If you are going to use the Bushnell scope that you currently have, taller rings could solve your issue. You might get a larger gap between the barrel and the objective, but the gap may not be an issue for you.

A nice system that saves some aggravation when scoping your cz is to get a rail like a DIP or some J&P adapters. Then you can mount your scope using weaver style rings of which there are many available heights.

Taking your rifle and scope to a gun shop is something to consider. You can check out the ring height right there.

I would be rethinking scope choice.

Leupold rimfire scope, either fixed or variable, is a quality glass for modest money and should clear the bolt with lower rings matched to the CZ.

I always thought that adding make-do adapters to purpose designed CZ dovetails was a poor choice.

https://www.kinneysshootingsupply.co...gory-s/146.htm

CZ has an 11mm dovetail which limits the rings you can use. “Make do” adaptors with a 20moa cant to them are actually very helpful especially on an accurate rifle intended to shoot long range. A lot of people find the CZ dovetail somewhat redundant.

The new CZ455 all have 3/8" dove tails now. Warne makes a very nice ring for the older CZ as well as the new ones the "hook" is reversible so you can do either 3/8" or the 11mm .. I bought one of those fancy Picattiny rail things to lift up the wifes scope above the rear sight on her CZ 452 Lux. It is for sale $150 bucks.... I have zero problem mounting scopes on the 8 CZ's we own...but scope selection is key, older fixed 6x (weavers mostly) is all we use.

Trades I would interested in:
- Sightron rifle scopes, 4.5x14x42mm or 4x16x42mm
especially! with the HHR reticle. (no duplex pls.)
- older 6x fixed scopes with fine X or target dot.

For clarity

From the faq section of the cz-usa website

Quote:
Q: “What rings do I need for my rimfire rifle?”
A: All 455s have 11mm dovetails. Beyond that, the dovetails might be 11mm or 3/8″ depending on whether the platform was developed for the US market or the European market. The foolproof way to tell is to take a measurement. 3/8″ dovetails will measure 0.5″/12.7mm at the top/widest part of the dovetail. 11mm dovetails will measure 0.433″/11mm at the top/widest part.

OP - beware that CZ's have a tight bore. They suggest a 20 caliber rod. A bore guide is an excellent idea as well.

Quote:
Q: “I’ve heard you use tight bores in your .22s, is that right? What does that mean?”
A: Our 22 LRs use our cold hammer forged and lapped barrels, and are built a bit tighter than many other guns. In 22 LR we run a .211 bore, which is one of the reasons our .22s are known for incredible accuracy. This also means that a .17 or .20 rod and jag are required for cleaning, since a .22 rod will be too large.

Yes. I use a 17 cal rod on my cz 22s and it also works fine.
