Got out to the Whitecourt area for some Grayling this past weekend. River levels were high but water was pristine;crystal clear. At this time of year it was hopper action all the way.
I worked my way down stream working the banks and side eddies with various hopper patterns. If there was a grayling around, they hammered the hoppers. Got into a couple nice ones as well.
This past week I just got back from a week back east. We were fishing the Parrysound area and it was great to get back into some bass action. Caught both largemouth and smallmouth bass. The lake we fished had plenty of different structure. Fished the slop with weedless poppers for largemouths.
Then worked the shoals off a couple islands with streamers for smallmouth and pike. Forgot how much of a fight smallmouth bass give. They are just plain tanks.
Was a good couple of trips. Now that the AB streams are back in shape I'm hoping for a few more fall trips before the season ends.
