Default Suggestions on what bait to use for Perch?

I'm going to give Perch fishing a try this winter. I'll be fishing in the North East of Alberta or in Meadow Lake Park. I haven't done this since I was a kid and my father used to take me. In those days we would stop at a gas station and get a pack of maggots to use for bait. I'm avoiding all stores right now because of Covid and I'm wondering what bait to use of the ones I already have.

I'm stocked up on minnows, small anchovies, and some trout baits like shrimp and marshmallow. I have some artificial Powerbait maggots as well. I've also heard people recommend kitchen items like cheese and corn.
Any suggestions for a good bait to use for Perch?

If u got minnows already a head or tail works fine.
Any keeper perch, pop an eyeball out. Excellent bait, stays on the hook extremely well. When the action gets hot, you don’t need to constantly rebait. I’ve caught up to 20 perch on the same eye.

Good comment about the perch eye. My favorite is a # 6 Len Thompson loaded up with maggots. Slave lake perch like the same setup for walleye and minnows are good there.

My two best options are:
-minnow, or minnow head...if they're minnow eaters
-mealworms, ripped in half so guts leak out...if they're focused on the bottom eating blood worms.

For the lakes in the south I fish, it's 90% of the time, one foot off the bottom with meal worms.

I use a maggot, and sometimes a little piece of brightly colored jig tail for flash.
Just a little piece.
I save beat up jig tails for just this.

Mealworms
Maggots pink and white
Perch eyeballs
Small frozen minnow
You can also use small strips of perch belly.

Perch eyes work really well but I’ve found these mini minnows that they sell now work the best by far.

My record is over 100 on the same eye. Best bait for kids to use.
