Fortunate enough to have a loving wife who wants to send me fishing on a birthday trip. I have done deep sea fishing. Would like to go fly fishing in the carribean. Fishing the flats looks like a fun time.
Trip likley in April.
My options are Cancun, Dominican, or Jamaica.
Have read lots online, but always interested in real life experiences.
If you're flexible on locations, check out Cayo Coco, Cuba. Basically you book yourself into an all inclusive and then guides will pick you up each day. The fishing is cheaper than anywhere in the Caribbean, and the bonefish are some of the least spooky, while averaging about 4 lbs. If you'd like more info, feel free to ask here or send me a message.
There is a good lodge south of Cancun called X-Flats. Been there twice; cool, laid back lodge, good guides and boats, great food. They will pick you up in Cancun and drive you down. The fishing is a mix of flats wading and casting from a panga. Bonefish, permit and cudas.
