That's where I got the idea. I mean I've seen them before. But he just happened to release a video featuring them at the same time I reached my boiling point with the iFish Pro. Garbage...that thing makes me want to kick kittens.

I've been watching all of the instructional videos on the Finicky Fooler web site, and I have to say I'm quite impressed. One tip for anyone looking at trying their products...get the Hooksetter model. Even if you just want to use it as a deadstick replacement for a conventional tip-up or iFish Pro, the Hooksetter gives you the option to hang a dead bait still with the bail open like the iFish Pro or as a hooksetter like the Jaw Jacker. Two products in one in a compact size. I wish I had gone with the Hooksetter model.

I ordered my Finicky Fooler from Stillwater last year. I've had limited time on it but so far impressed.

When I looked at purchasing direct the exchange and shipping was killer.

You’re right in both statements.I’m not quite sure who sponsors his stuff but he is willing to try out new gear. He still is a genuine guy that is very good at what he does. He always gives great info and tricks to make the average guy better.

All the tubers get there stuff for free to use and Clayton is no different. He gets this stuff to try and if he likes it he promotes it through and on his channel. If you followed him for years you’ve probably noticed lots of equipment and gear has changed.

I picked up their 6 man that usually goes for $600 for $250.

They had some insulated ones there too. Some great deals

It's a bit of both. Sponsorship comes and goes (Alumacraft yoinked all of them except Jay a year or two ago), and they definitely don't get everything for free. Having said that, there are a lot of small companies that try to get their products seen on their channels.

Other than his truck and trailer and sled I’m pretty sure any fishing related gear is sponsored to him which was giving to him for free to use on his channel. There’s not to many times he’s reaching into his pocket to find his wallet like we all have to. Hmmm we say free but it comes with busting your butt to get the subscribers etc
Nothing then is free rather a sponsor that rides his shirt tails hoping we will buy what he uses.

They definitely get deals but there's no way Shimano is giving these guys free reels as they are using both frostbite and Shimano. He would be using Shimno rods as well in open water if he was being sponsored by Shimano. WIth Striker they get a cost plus but not free if I remember correctly. Clayton mentioned how much he paid for his Raingear up at the lodge.

Whats got me excited is this newer Ion Gen 3 electric ice auger . I heard it only weights 18 pounds for a 10 inch cutter and has a reverse switch so you don't have to scoop as much . Can any one confirm if that really works so you don't have to scoop ? Just might have to run out and buy one today !

Most, if not all, electric augers have a reverse. It does help but you’ll still want to clear your hole out with a scoop if you want it completely clear. For checking depths it works fine by itself.

There is no variable speed on the trigger. So it's instant full power. With the new blades it is fast cutting holes. I'm keeping track how many inches it will cut on one charge. 100 inches so far. Strickmaster advertises it will cut 1100 inches in 1 charge.

The new ION Alphas are the only augers with variable speed switches…I never use the feature. Yes they cut faster than gas. Just get one. You won’t be disappointed.

I have had the Strikemaster 24V for 2 years now. Best I have ever got on one charge is right around 500”.

Thanks for the info guys . I think electric is the way of the future ,just like the electric drills and impact guns in the trades. Not many people use air tools any more .
