My son is into 3d printing, and in electronics class in school, so we will be working together to get a self feed going. Just happen to have an old computer tower sitting there doing nothing, and he needs to complete a few projects for class.
Our 3d order of filament should arrive this week, and he can start setting things up and getting some 10/22 parts printed to work out the settings.

Already have plans floating in the head of what I want it to do and look.

I hope to tackle this project one day as well. Do you plan to post as you make it? Would love to follow along.

FL sizing a new lot of Lapua 30-06.
Have to admit im a little dissapointed. This lot has some really crappy peices in it. Lots of oblong and dented necks. First time I have felt the need to prep new Lapua brass. I usually load 'em and go! Hope it is not a sign of things to come.

This whole thing got me thinking of expander mandrels. Is any one using expander mandrels for the purpose of managing neck tension in their hunting loads? I figure precision shooters do this all the time but not sure if it makes sense for a hunter who's happy with 0.75 moa, not aiming for sub 0.25 moa.

I've found a lot of brass packaging and the way it's handled has a lot to do with the condition of it when the box or bag is opened.

Oh well, easily fixed.

mandrels are great
The inside diameter of the neck is what is important not the outside
They arent that expensive and they dont really take that much more time

I use bushing dies. My competition cases get .002" neck tension in all calibers. Sorry, I'm not a hunter.

Didn’t actually do anything in my reloading room yesterday, but a friend is getting into reloading and I searched a couple of buy n sell forums and helped him find some used brass for his 300WM. Got a good price for it too and he’s happy. And he went into the city cuz he found an outlet that had some powder that he wanted.

Unless you’re turning your necks, bushing dies won’t give you as consistent of neck tension as you think. Even if you do turn your necks. You will notice when you’re seating your bullets that it is far more consistent. You can simply just feel the difference in your hand

I have never noticed that. I don't turn necks either. My ES and SD numbers as well as accuracy results tell me it's working.

It's ok though. Each of us has a differing view on things and we get results different ways. Your way is not the right way. But neither is mine. There's plenty of ways to skin a cat.

Over the years I have found ( unless I am making wildcat cases), that stuff like neck turning and bushing dies as opposed to standard necks and standard dies have absolutely no impact on the outcome of my accuracy.
Sometimes they make things easier, sometimes the process takes longer, but even in my custom built match rifles , that stuff doesn't make a difference in thousands of rounds tested.
Proper form and a good wind call absolutely does , however.
I learned many years ago that the biggest variable to producing a good score, group, or a single shot is the nut behind the bolt!

Played with the perfect amp annealer today. Sweet rig, bit of a learning curve. Going to have to buy some proper bushings for my 6mm and 7mm BR. cases, as well as the 6mm-22-250 International.
Did a quick test run on .17 Hornet and some 22-250 cases, took about 1.5 seconds per case once the machine was set up, and they were "perfect".

Talked to my son about it again last night. Turns out he says he needs to do most of the work to get class credits for it. Well, okay, fine by me.

I will try and takes pictures, and do a write up. Probably going to use it as a basic hand held set up for a bit, as he is going to be busy so it may be months in the making.

Took my "mexican match" to the range today, a bit hot, will take 2 grains out for next time and work up.

Gave the AMP a good run today did ~275 .17 Hornet cases in about 1/2 an hour. Sweet machine ordered some "dies" for a few cases which did not come with the machine, will donate them to Faststeel for payment for the use of his machine. Thanks bro.

Those are called "pilots". I had the gen 1 and now the gen 2 machine. Easy easy!

In the middle of an extensive cleaning and loading of the AO 6mmBR rifle, the round count is getting up there now, and although it is still accurate as an irons rifle, I plan on putting my test scope on in the next while to truly see how it is doing in the accuracy department.

Reloaded 60 223 with 55 grain Sierra.
Worked on loading 45 rounds of 410. Got them primed will probably finish them up tomorrow. So far this 410 reloading has paid of over the last 5 years I have loaded 700 rounds. I like number 6 lead shot for grouse. Very glad I started this as the cost of factory has gone thru the roof.

Prepped and loaded 60 rounds of 270 win for my wife’s 270 win with H4350 and 130 sst’s. Finally caught up and everything is loaded. Done till spring when I start shooting the 6.5-284 and 7 LRM.

So my last range trip on Thursday was pretty good for brass pick-ups. A few .44mag and .357mag. Some 30-30 and .303brit. But the real find was 75 cases of Hornady 6.5CM. All of it looked like it was fired from a bolt gun. No dents or dings.

What’s a fella to do? Well..prep them! So after de-capping and wet tumbling, I measured all of them. Whatever they were in, the chamber was slightly smaller than the chamber in my Cadex with the big Kreiger barrel. Oh well, they’ll fire form.



So I was curious. I’ve been picking up the 6.5CM cases whenever I see them. And I was curious about how many I had accumulated. I have 125 loaded and 112 prepped. I was wondering how much Hornady brass goes for in those 50 piece bags new. And I figured around $50 for 50 cases. So I have an estimated $225ish worth of brass…for free. In fact, I have so much of it that I rarely fire the match rounds in Lapua cases.

I was in at cabelas and they were asking 85$ for the box of 50 hornady… good find!

Prepped 100 rounds of once fired hornady brass I had laying around for the 6.5cm, loaded 10 and will increase charges and load the rest. First couple weeks of reloading has been fun! Finally getting the hang of everything
