Coleman for 4.9 mil AAV or Kane for 5.12 mil shows just how good this deal is. I brought that up kinda just for kicks

Sweet deal, I love the way he plays the game now if he can just keep his nose clean for those 4 years.

That was some pretty good work by Holland. I guess Kane liked it here. On the straight and narrow, Evander.

The Kane deal will prove to be one of the best contracts in the NHL over the next 4 years. I'm stoked. That's a huge piece of business done, he's a key piece of the puzzle.
Now for the goalie, I want Keumper, but I'd settle for Campbell, because I think Skinner will prove to be a very capable backup, and I'm leery of the dollars and term that Keumper is going to command. Campbell will be a long overdue upgrade over Smith and Kosk.
I sure wish they could have got Kulak to sign on the dotted line, I liked his game.
They need to get the Yamo (needs to be team friendly) and McLeod (pay the kid, he's going to be a stud) contracts finalized, and then figure out what to do with JP. I'm good either way really, he has value, so I don't want him gone for nothing, it has to be a good deal, but at the same time, his total lack of finish, poor hockey IQ, and weird sense of entitlement make him expendable in my mind.
Still need some D men, hopefully with some size and grit. I think Broberg makes the jump this year, Niemelainin is a maybe, he checks some boxes, but that isn't without risk for both of them, there will be growing pains. I'm kind of in the same place with Barrie as I am with JP, I don't mind him, so I'm not in a hurry to give him away, but if there's a deal to be done to add pieces and/or shed some salary, I'd definitely do it.
Last on the list is a couple 3rd and 4th liners. I'm penciling Holloway in for opening day, and maybe one more spot for our AHL guys, so that only leaves a couple spots. Veteran guys are always critical when you're in the win now window, so we'll see what Holland and co can do.
I sure wish Gaudreau would have signed in Calgary at $10.5M/per for 8 years, that would have been sweet. One can only hope they panic and give Tkachuk the same type of massive overpay of an offer...

Hopefully Kane loses the arb filing or settles out of court. If he wins, the signing is void.

We need a top backup goalie. Who will that be?
The kicker will still be defence. We can’t keep letting teams pepper our guys with shots. It rarely ends well.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Skinner was #1 by the time play offs roll up. Or even by next season playoffs . Campbell is a big upgrade on koskinen if you look at it that way it’s not to bad. I don’t like the term but the free agent goalies had Holland’s gonads in a vice. I’m just glad they chose Campbell over Keumper

Great day for Holland
I am a little astonished with the Kane deal. I can only presume that, once given permission to talk to other teams, he perhaps found out that other teams were somewhat shying away on term and/or money.
And while I am concerned about the term, given his personal, off-ice history (including his previous relationship with the Sharks franchise), the numbers are the numbers, when judged solely by the on-ice performance.
Meaning...5.125 AAV is an absolute steal for the Oilers. Like on the level of grand theft auto highway robbery.
As for the other signings, I am fine with the Campbell deal, pretty much the best we could do without involving a blockbuster trade and giving up assets. Kulak contract is also great value imho.
Next season looks very very bright for the Oil. Just gotta figure out a way to beat the Avalanche.
We lost out on Connor Brown, so I'd like to see some more depth scoring, and depth toughness.Additionally, if Niemeläinen could prove he can skate and move the puck at the NHL level, he's the type of toughness we need on defence. If Niemeläinen isn't the answer, then I am in favour of another tough, shut-down D to complement our otherwise talented defensemen corps. Of course, that might be the type of player we acquire at next season's trading deadline.
Assuming we sign Mcleod and Yamamoto to reasonable deals, actually, we're pretty good to go to start the next season! Maybe not enough to win the Cup, but enough to compete for top 3 in the conference, then Holland can see what we need via trade mid season, or at the deadline.
A lot of this comes down to how well Campbell plays. We need at least a solid 0.915 out of him.
Awesome day!

That's FANTASTIC work by Holland! I kept hearing Philly and in the 8 Mil per year range, What a BARGAIN (IF he stays on his best behavior) Clearly he likes playing here and gave the whole organization a glowing review so maybe he see's the light? Lets hope so, him & Conner can REALLY do some damage in the playoffs..

He's definitely a solid #2 tender and what he's shown us already he could certainly challenge for the starting role.
Man, good times for us LOOOONG time suffering Oiler fans!

Only a Liberal would tell me I can like or not like.
 ;-)
Sigh.
Have to keep explaining myself to you kids.
Seriously. Grew up in Edmonton. I went to many Oilers games sitting in the nosebleeds then sneaking down to the lower bowl in the 3rd.
Good times.
Parents went to Stanley Cup party one year. Gretzky and all the other stars were there.
Now live in Perchgary. Support my local team.
Next you want to know who my next favourite team is. That would be Pittsburgh. Big Lemieux and Crosby fan. 4th favourite…don’t have one.

Lost Gudbrandson as well, he might miss Darryl as well. Another guy can thank Flames for giving him a big chance. But a 4 year deal, glad for him.
Bad day to be this Flames fan.
