Thanks guys.

We were hunting from oct 6-13. We have always had good luck with the second rut seeming to peak around oct 12/13 in our area. But this year the elk were not talking as much as normal. We were not getting much response to bugling but when we were close they were grunting in response to cow calls. The 2x2 did respond to bugling so some of the smaller satellites might call back.

The most info I can share about the location is we were north of Edmonton.

We also tried a new to us butcher this year and picked up all the meat this afternoon!!

I’m getting a euro mount done on the 6x4 so it will be interesting to see what it’s skull looks like once it is cleaned up.

I got my elk skull back. Its pretty crazy the damage that was done to that antler base and skull. Not sure how something like that would happen?

It must have affected his vision looking forward a bit.

I wander if it could be genetic. We have a few bulls on camera with deformed right antlers, including one I killed in 2016. The one I killed has a club growing down and an antler growing up with bone in between, so it's really 2 separate set of antlers.

Man! That is something else for sure. I think he may have had something go sideways from birth, as a calf and simply continued on as he grew older. Neat as heck. Thank you again for sharing the story. You fellas sure have a great area to hunt.
