Default wood stock

What are my options to condition and protect the wood on my new Marlin 1895GG?

Not my thing, but I've seen some wood stocks with the finish stripped off, the stock sanded and rattle can bedliner applied that looks good and stands up to rough use. I imagine a laminate forearm and stock for the 1895 SBL could be ordered in and the pistol grip ground off to fit the straight GG lever, which might be a better looking solution;

If it were my utility rifle I'd be tempted to pull the stocks, form some molds and lay up some resin/fiberglass/polycarbonate replacement stocks, probably paint them after and pass the
original wood ones along for the next owners use.
