not saying the scores are always correct, but we have 5 official B&C scorers, one official P&Y scorer and several AFGA certified scorers. We also have a chartered accountant adding the scoresheets. We do our best but there are mistakes. Due to the sheer volume of heads it is bound to happen and those clubs that claim their scores are always exact have far less to score.

it can happen at any scoring event that numbers are added up wrong. the surest way to get it right is to use the computerized scoring program. no accountant in the world will be as fast or accurate as the machines are. im not picking on willow valleys crew at all....it has happened everywhere these events are held. with the digital program, the only way to get it wrong is to type it wrong which is easily verified with a double check of the printout.

my own biggest whitetail for example was scored by a long time B&C scorer who has done thousands of heads over the years.....yet a simple math error gave up a score 2 inches out. 2 inches wouldnt be seen by anyone....but 30 inches sure should be.

i really cant believe that all events like this havent adopted the new technology. when you have such a massive amount of heads it makes life so much easier. i know the medicine hat group used the new technology starting a few years ago and it solved a ton of problems. this was not a small show by any stretch.....well over 1000 people were through the doors, and heads were over 200. for whatever reason, last year it was not used and immediately some very suspect scores showed up. its just so easy for mistakes to happen.

Yeah the number of heads were for sure down this year but quality was good. It was the first time that I can remember no entries for the rifle non-typical mule deer.

for the average guy, it is easiest to just go to B&Cs website and the sheets for all species are right there. just type in the numbers and it gives you the score. for shows though that do a whack of them in a day.....the cd is a better way. its juts a little faster and its one page where the webite it 2 pages for a shett.. the cd is on sale right now too.

I just tried the online system, it came out the same as my score sheet. That sure would be handy for our club night. Im the guy that gets to do all the adding. but with my luck the computer system would crash and loose all the scores for the night, just my luck.

I thought there was a NT mule deer that won with a score of 198 and change.

Looks awesome! Sounds like lots of decent heads. I really wanted to make it this year, didn't really have anything too big to enter but its always kind of fun. Hopefully next year, definetly don't like missing it. Ive been hearing lots of good feedback here from buddies that did make it out.

Thanks for the link! Why such a poor turnout with the fish and feather entries?
Is our membership really down right now?
