Indeed. The ice in the video close to shore looked pretty good, obviously thinned out as they progressed.

We are heading out on Sunday to fish Lake Winnipeg for the week. Cracks that open up are common on this Lake. Caution is required when travelling. Many locals carry planks in the truck to lay over the cracks. This year has been bad with many people dropping a tire or two into these cracks. This was particularly scary.

A few years back, a pickup went through on Lake Winnipeg, and it even got attention by Rick Mercer when he was up there walleye fishing.
