Default Homemade Trout Bait?

Anybody make their own trout bait? Powerbait is so expensive.

This has the makings of a good thread. I never thought of trying something like this and also would like to hear what people have to say about it.

white bread, kraft slice cheese, garlic salt. Tear a small chunk of bread, enough to roll into a bait size ball. Tear small piece of cheese, moisten bread just a bit with water, roll into a ball with cheese. Then roll ball in garlic salt. I have also mixed in power bait as well. It works!!
