Default Trap to skin time

Hi there, just wondering how long do you have from the time you trap a coyote until you skin? The same question for beaver? I have quite the distance between......Thanks Mur

How long? as in how long before the hide spoils?

Well that depends. At minimum you have a day or two and under the right conditions maybe a week. More if you freeze the animal.

One thing worth considering, most case stretched hides come off easier while the carcass is still warm.

If its fresh or even thawed enough I skin same day. If its frozen solid I hang it in the shed or put it in the freezer and skin another day at my leisure. I only trap beaver in the spring so they are never frozen. I just knocked the hides off that day then roll them up and throw them into the freezer for another day. A ffresh animal is a lot easier to skin than a half frozen one.
