Default Southern water levels

I've been watching the water level reports from Alberta Environment but I'm curious as to the status of the launch at 40 mile. Anyone been there in the past week?

Thanks!

I've heard 40mile took advantage of the low water levels to build a new and longer launch. Water has risen since. But this is second hand information!

That would be good use of the situation!

Don't think its new or longer just repaired the existing one.

Almost looks like St Mary's. I would think the irrigation districts are starting to fill up the reservoirs before total shutting down the canals.

that is St. Narys. Only showing 4.1% cap. Wonder where all the fish go or if they even have a chance? Sad really. Wont be anymore water in there until runoff next spring I would think.

St Marys it is. Lots of depth there so more water than it looks. Its a very deep lake by our standards. 150 ft plus when full.

Yes there is good depth but all the fish are confined to a very small area and the small fish and minnow populations take a beating , The last big draw down on St Marys Res. was when the spillway was rebuilt, the water draw down was about as bad as it is this year and it took several years to recover, Lack of bait fish was a very big factor..

I think or hope rather that a lot of the walleye and other fish simply beat a path up the river.

I was talking to a guy in Leth and he said that the tunnels need mortar fixing and a valve needs to be changed / fixing that is why it is so low this year. Not sure if it is true but would make sense.

I am at 40 Mile right now. The crews are pulling the dock as I right this message, however, the boat launch is good to launch. About 2 ft lower than the high water mark, but definitely in good shape. The fishing here has been good.

Chin and Ridge Reservoir are locked at the campground now.
