Any beer surprises ?
Always stuck with a popular beer, but the wife sees a flyer from Wines and Beyond.
She comments on these unfamiliar brands with the fancy colored cases.
I say I'm sticking with my uzall.
I come home and see a case of Velvet Fog. Would not drink this in front of the guys, ha, but gotta admit..
Good beer, it's out of Calgary.
Anyone else find an non popular beer with a good taste ?

Wildrose makes pretty good beer. Seems like you have missed all the beer threads on here lately...if interested, search them out for good reading.
Keep experimenting and you'll develop your taste for various ales, lagers, etc.

You need to experience the amazing beers being created by the numerous micro breweries. You may never touch a mainstream canadian or American beer again....I don't
There is a lot out there to sample, enjoy the adventure

The amber ale I tapped last night is fantastic.I think I will call it Robot Chicken Amber Ale as I concocted the recipe like a mad scientist.I went with 8 pounds of 2 row as a base malt and added a pound each of amber/carafoam/carahell/crystal 60/honey malts. It is comparable to Rickards Red in both color and taste.

Home brew. Nothing beats it after a little bit of practice! You can get as varied and crafty as you want. I'm making a Straberry Blonde Canadian Ale right now! After that i'm going to make a delicious Red Ale that I have made before. Both are going into my kegerator. In the end, it works out to about $0.60 a beer.
No preservatives and no added crap. That means little to no hangover. It's magical stuff!

You also get to get creative with the hops.....and I will say an ounce of Galaxy goes a LONG way.
Right now I have 6 carboys in various stages fermentation.....damn do I ever like home brewing.Truth be told if you can make soup you can make beer.
