Default Fauquier, BC - Arrow Lakes

So Im off to Fauquier on a surprise trip, Kids and family are sending us (wife and me) there. But problem, no boat, but must fish!

Suggestions on where to go and what to use... can I have much luck with kokanee from shore?

I tried looking up a charter but wrong week, he's off to Ucluelet for the summer. Bummer, had no idea the lakes up there are full of giant gerrards.

I've done well in the May-June time frame in Arrow lake right at a creek mouth for 2-5 lbers. The big boys come out Oct-Dec and April-May for the colder water and caught by trolling. The big lakes have suffered the past few years for a variety of reasons and being power reservoirs that's a bit of an environmental disaster as well. With the warmer water you have to go higher up. Lakes like Whatshan, Summit and others in the hills should work. Also some of the creeks are good for little guys like Kuskunax by the hotsprings. One place I like is Carpenter creek at Sandon, a ghost town to explore and black backed rainbows in every piece of flat water in the tiny white water stream.
