Default Fathers day.....A fishing story.

So, finally got up to the cabin and got my boat in the water last weekend.*I decided to take my boy Rory (just turned 6 last week) trolling for pickerel Saturday night. He caught 2 and brought them in on his own......I got skunked! Didn't get home till*11:00.
He was the town crier the next morning (as pickerel population in the lake have dropped and they are quite elusive) , making sure everyone in the village was aware. Then he demanded I take him out for pike *on Sunday morn (Fathers day) as he claims he can easily fight ANY fish. As luck would have it,*He nails a nice 4.2 lb pike on the 3rd cast with a spoon. Stayed for another hour and I finally got a baby pike to break the slump. Carefully released it and called it a weekend.*BTW, the* pickerel the night before weighed in at* 1.7 and 3 lbs.
What a blessing on fathers day weekend to watch my 6 year old son, succeed as a new angler (my favourite pastime activity), walking tall and a smile beaming with pride, absolutely thrilled with the time spent on the lake with his dad.
A Father's day I'll never forget!
For some reason, I can't upload photos.
