Default Where to go for whitefish/pike/burbot/walleye

Hello all,

I'm thinking of heading out fishing tomorrow afternoon/evening, ideally somewhere within an hour and a half of Edmonton. I haven't been icefishing anywhere but the pothole lakes for trout, so I'd like some suggestions on spots for whitefish, pike, burbot and/or walleye. I'd be practicing C&R on pike and walleye, and keeping up to two whitefish or burbot if I happened upon them. I'm happy just catching fish, so size isn't a huge concern of mine.

I've been looking through the archives at reports from Wabamun (C&R only, I know), Coal, Pigeon, etc., but I'm having a hard time working out how they stack up against each other. Is there anywhere you'd suggest?

Thanks!

i have a place on lac. st. anne and it has decent summer fishing so i'd imagine ice season shouldn't be too bad

Well, I ended up at Pigeon, but got only cold fingers for my troubles. My suspicion was that I hadn't found a particularly productive spot, but having arrived later in the day than I thought (and with the ice much thicker than I was anticipating, >15"), I didn't get to move around much. Oh well, it's not a bad excuse to head back and try again.

yeah mostly catch and release, i've read that (if you can find em) you can keep whitefish, burbot, and perch (which i've never seen in 10yrs fishing this lake), c.o. said they may have special harvest (walleye) next year. i wish
