If only someone had had the foresight to predict that this would happen.

I seem to recall a bunch of "tinfoil hat" comments from the enlightened crowd.

Let them know you feel that this is unjust and pressure them to repeal it.

Edit: No petitions especially the Facebook ones, they are useless.

It's a federal government thing. You'll have to voice your opinion to your MP. If he's a Liberal, the government may listen, if he/she's not, I don't think it'll do much good. Even as a prairie boy, one thing even I know for sure, firearms rules are going to get a lot stricter before they become more lenient. Now we just have to ensure we remain law abiding sportsmen. If not, it'll give the antis all the more ammunition, pun intended.

Anybody who's contacted their MP get word back yet? Sent Garnett Genuis a note a couple of days back & nothing so far. Just wondering what a typical turnaround time is for this type of thing.

I wish I could make a positive comment; I have done what you have indicated.

If this can save just one grass rat
It should do some more divide and conquer between us.
As long as it doesn't effect me.

Yeah, starting to look that way.

Of interest, I've been active on the CCFR, NFA & CSSA sites w this issue. The CCFR has been the quickest to act and the most definitive & satisfying in their approach. CSSA has been slow to start but looking good now. NFA indicated they'd wait until the official announcement from the RCMP until taking action. Announcement in out now, hopefully we'll see something out of the NFA at some point.

Based purely on the responsiveness of their various executives to the membership on their respective FB pages on this issue, it's looking to me like the interests of Canadian firearms owners are served best by: CCFR > CSSA > NFA. It's looking like the CCFR donation is the one that's paying the bigger dividends.

With no new bulletin out, they likely can't get in any more trouble than they could for selling mags a year ago. Be different if there was new direction from the RCMP. I see a couple stores in Lloydminster still have them too.

Everybody grab a mag, an estimated 1 million in the country, show up at your local RCMP station and demand to be charged.

Well that was issued to E Division, it was not issued by the the CFC, nor to my knowledge has the CFC contacted all/any dealers.
The bulletin system is pretty efficient when used. FAXs are sent to all business license holders and new policies are passed on. Why the RCMP seems to want to pass this latest farce on via internal messages only is strange. But I guess it makes it easier for them to maintain the narrative that the evil gun dealers have ignored the bulletin issued years ago (that discussed a completely different magazine under completely different circumstances) and have being selling prohibited devices to the poor unsuspecting population.

Just got this email from a Gun dealer I know.
Must not be law yet.

"Hi Paul,

No I haven't seen a RCMP Bulletin yet, so nothing has changed at this point.
But there's a lot of talk about the RCMP banning the 10/22 Mags.
So could be coming down the pipe at some point."

I can confirm that today 23 July at 1300 I called bass pro in Calgary asking if they had any mags for 10/22 in stock that had a greater than 10 round capacity. I was told they no longer carry 10/22 mags over 10 rounds because they where prohibited.

DON'T take offence, But until there is a bulletin it means squat.
Bass Pro will hire anybody to work in their clothing store,

No offence taken at all, I am also checking for a bulletin every day. Has anyone considered that they may just be updating bulletin #72 and won't we posting anything new.

I just checked the NFA website and it had nothing about that. Also, NBA step it up and get some lawyers working for you and stop hiring high-school drop outs to write your articles.

The cfo website has nothing on this matter either

I was in Bass Pro in the spring of 2015 and overheard the manager on the phone at the gun counter telling the caller that all rim fire magazines greater than 10 rounds are prohibited and they no longer sell them. When I asked him where he got this information from he said it came from Bass Pro head office.
They have had some 25 round magazines for 10-22 Rugers since then so I don't think they know what the hell is going on.

Not in my back yard comes to mind.

Who doesn’t have a high capacity holder for a 10-22 clone or variant?

That was probably for the "BX" Ruger mags which were marketed and listed as being made for the Charger pistol. Most of the big box stores hire counter jockeys for the most part, vs. knowledgeable enthusiasts.

They should still have to up date the dealers. I would hope.

I think that the bigger, badder elephant in the room is we have a non-elected body that is supposed to enforce law, interpreting law and implementing new regulation that chisel away our imaginary right to private property in this country. Remember, this is a paramilitary body that has the power to determine our right to own certain things. Scares me more than just a little. You?
