Default May 2022 Air rifle is being used daily, thousand rounds down tube so far

I went into MGO Lloydminster and the pellet rifles are 20% off, went home with a Crossman Nitro Venom .22 950fps for $175. Shoots decent, last 3 were same hole at 25 yds, sure it will be a good feeder.
There aren't a lot of places to find .22 cal pellets in Lloyd, and the prices reflect it.
Anyone seeing any deals on bulk 'hollow point' pellets?

Hey Ken
Thanks to my Gamo 177cal 1,000 fps and the very light alloy pellets you can get that will jack the fps by another 200. Needless to say those famous Canmore bunnies don't last long in my neighborhood, even the non shooting neighbors call me when an invader is spotted.

Sounds like fun times ahead. Enough power for all your varmint needs. I don't know if you buy online. If so, https://www.airgunsource.ca/en/ammun...ellets/22-cal/ has a great assortment. Not in bulk though.

Score!!! Thank you!

You bet I buy online, if I can not locally.
I took out 5 magpies from my patio door off the deck in 15 minutes, then they started leaving a little bit more distance between me and them. With the new rifle I am betting they will be dropping off the garage roof and from the trees easily.
Now I just have to find a deal on a bug-a-salt shotgun

Good job Ken! They leave our yard alone now ever since my dog Rosco took one of those flying rats out of the air and killed it dead!

Way quieter. There is 1 left at MGO, but there was 1 other guy asking when I was there. There are a few others as well, but the specs and price on this one looked real nice.

Well, don't be shooting them all in one day. What will you shoot tomorrow?

They are flocking up now, I don't think finding them will be tough. Besides, a block away at the museum (converted grain elevator) there are 20 acres of gophers
The school yard is also swimming with fur covered moving targets, generally used the bow but I prefer not having to remove pellets.
Living in a tiny town and getting along great with the school makes for tons-o-fun.
I am thinking of trying some of the hybrid pellets, getting almost 1250fps out of a .22 sounds great!

Personally, I prefer the domed pellets to the hollow point for use on pigeons crows and magpies. The 950 fps is the rating for alloy pellets, expect around 800fps for lighter lead pellets and around 700fps for the heavier lead pellets. My rifle drives the 15.8gr JSB Exact at just under 700fps, and it does a good job on pigeons to about 50 yards.

Another good dealer for airguns and pellets is D&L air out of bc, there’s no where good to get pellets from in Alberta. Your best bet is to get many different weights and head sizes to see what works best and to stay away from hollow point pellets, in most airguns they’re not as accurate at domed past 10-20m.

Welcome to the fun and addicting world of airguns just wait until you play with a pcp, it’s a whole other level of fun.

While mostly true, you have to make sure your pellet weight is such that you're not breaking the sound barrier, or you'll sound like a .22

This is useful, given you know the energy of your rifle.

True but unless you’re using a pcp that’s typically not an issue, the advertised velocity is nearly always exaggerated and light weight alloy pellets are used. Usually a .22 with average weight lead pellets (14.3 grain) should give around 800 fps +/- 50 fps depending on brand with spring pistons/nitro pistons.

Besides even if you have an airgun that can break the sound barrier it will have too much turbulence on the pellet to get any meaningful accuracy.

Hi Ken, I have a 22 cal pellet rifle(remington) 1250fps. I purchase the silver tip with the red butt pellets at Princess Auto They are very accurate but pricy. Hav shot crows /magpies 75-100 ft with ease
