Happy 100th-

I think the hardest part of fishing for them in the OMD is the bait regs. Maybe some on here know how to catch them with un baited hooks but I don't. Check the regs for the bait thing first and good luck to you as there are plenty in there.

I have caught most of my burbs without bait.

Pound a sinking rattlin' rap in the mud and they will strike. The pre-spawn time, like now, they seem to be quite aggressive.

Some guys use those weighted bell lures - that would seem to make sense based on my own experience watching what makes a burb strike on camera.

I caught a burbot in Emma lake SK last week and found these in it's stomach, apparently they hit on twister tails.

That's my favorite ice fishing lure when in a Lake with pike, walleyes and burbs. Tie it onto a fluorocarbon leader and there are no bite offs.

I know it happens, but I hate to see a fish swallow a hook and indigestible rubber/plastic. Can't be easy coming out. Hook doesn't help.

The one with the leader is no bite off !! Those could have also been picked up by the burbs searching the rocks for a meal ! Never had a burb bite through my line yet, and I don't remember them even having teeth !
