Default How Much Rain Did You Get AGAIN

Seems we are in a holding pattern for rain at least in our area

Dumped another 1.3" out of the gauge since supper time last night, brings our total here to 3.7" in that last 10 day's more to come today so they say

Ive had a few sleepless nights. We installed a new sump pump last summer during the last huge storm of the year. The sump has been dry pretty much ever since. Haven't heard the new pump run from snow melt, or early spring rains. Watching it very closely and tuning the float. Still don't trust it 100%, half expect wet socks every step in the basement.
Watched it last night and played with the float, I think I have it set. Water line this morning was about where I wanted it to turn on.

2.5" over the last 3 days. The first 0.9" came down in about an hour!

I would like to change the oil in the truck, but there is so much water pooling on the drive I would need one of those Edmonton lifeguards standing by. The wife thinks the grass needs cutting, but I would need a lawn mower with pontoons.

My digital reset on a power outage on Jun 6. Now reads 248mm (9.76 "). I dumped same amount (9.75 ") from my Ufa tube since then. 80.9mm (3.3") last 3 days. N of Olds. High % of yellow in many fields.

I don't have a rain gauge but the water level in my backyard pond went up about an inch since yesterday morning.

Sylvan ... another 2.5" or 65 mm yesterday to this am.

Since the snow melted & the rain started were pushing close to 10" or 250 mm.

Lake level sure has gone up, the main beach sand on Lakeshore Dr. is now all under water.

On my way home from R/D, water is now standing in the farm fields and crops are drowning in low spots.

Enough already!

Yes enough already. Drying time. Probably won't have to water the plants and garden for 2 weeks lol. Everything around us is over flowing and saturated. Just hope it don't turn into mosquito heaven.

Ya Ha Tinda campground is apparently flooded and closed, the road in poor shape as well.

I know some people running a double sump system. One on the very bottom and one nearer the top of the sump as back.up. these people do it because they are away quite often and live in areas where ground water is a constant threat. Glad I don't have that problem I wouldn't be able to sleep either.the one guy has one pump tied into the sewer system, and the other just pumps out by his furnace intake out the wall. . I'm sure its not to " code" but saves his basement from flooding.

Soggy out here in Sibbald Flats, no water issues in the house and this sure keeps the fire hazard down

Rained pretty steadily here, couple of good thunder storms as well, apparently one came over the house the other day while I was in Drum, dropped some hail and etc., saw the cloud, stayed N, of the river though. I cut the lawn last wk the day before it started, and it has grown near 6 inches since. Pretty sure we have enough now to keep us going, maybe another shot a the end of July would be nice.

I would take a pail of water and start to pour it into the sump. You will see it kick in and sleep better.

I don't know exactly how much we got in total so far...but it is lots. The entire yard is saturated, and won't be able to mow for awhile yet. My driveway ditch has about a foot of standing water in places.

Supposed to get a couple of sunny days this weekend...then more rain!!

I have a sump pump, and it now kicks in every 30-40 minutes. I always have a spare pump available. Takes me about 10 minutes or less to replace. During dry seasons, I will occasionally pour a 5 gallon pail of water to make sure all is good.

My biggest fear is a power outage while the ground water is so high. This means no sump pump.

Last year, I bought a 12 volt RV type water pump with the adequate PSI, depth capacity, and volume. You can get them to fit standard water garden hoses. I have it as a standby with a fully charged automotive battery. Should a power outage occur, I will put the intake hose in the hole, open the window and stick the discharge hose outside away from house. Connect the pump and babysit it until the power gets back on. In other words, turn it on as required.

I have tested it and it works great!

Only problem is that if you are not around...could be fubar!...

One inch on the weekend (mostly Saturday) and another one and a quarter last night/today. It doesn't look like it is done yet either.

Wasn't there a recent thread where people were complaining about not enough rain?

Yes, but that was then, this is now. I want to get my hay off, once that's done I'll move on to the next batch of complaining. You must not know us farmers very well.

What is the difference between a farmer and a 747. The 747 quits whining when it gets to Hawaii.

We have had a fair amount of rain around Edmonton over the last week but no anywhere near what you guys are talking about. We don't have water filled ditches yet, for the most part.

I don't even bother looking at the rain gauge anymore. Rain is an everyday occurrence here

I had 4 inches of water in my back yard bucket. It’s from the last couple big storms over the past few days.

Super heavy rains last night.
