Sunday, ice was a good 12" where we were. Quaded out, but could've drove on. Next week should take care of thin ice issues. Fishing was pretty good, handful of pike, smaller handful of walleye and a big ol' burbot to wrap up the day.

nice burb, I think your pike would have won the derby last year. Id be really careful about driving out on that thickness of ice on CV, people have gone through on a lot more especially around the islands. Brooks district is warning of bad ice conditions, on that lake as well, even if its a foot thick its not very good ice.

Default Beard Real?

Funny on the beard as I was showing that to my wife on my phone and from there she thought it was his belaclava.

Just to solve the beard mystery......... It is indeed a fake! Some wool stitched thing attached to a toque. Loved it! Had to howl after I took that pic of my buddy. I guess he got it online from somewhere. The burb is indeed real, not an online purchase

Nice fish! That is the coolest looking burb i have seen. It is actually white on the bottom like the picture in the regs not like the normal oliv green. I have been meaning to get out there this season. Thanx for sharing.

Wayne, you mentioned Brooks area is reporting sketchy ice conditions. Any info or thoughts on Newell? Would like to walk out a ways on the west side around the pumphouse area, but havent been out to Newell yet this year, so not sure on the ice. any info would be much appreciated.

Pumphouse area was 8- 10 inches on Jan 3, dunno whats happened since then. Watched a half ton drive out after he drilled test holes. Seemed a touch CRAZY to me. We just kept thinking that if he had got into trouble, we would suddenly have to be involved to help. Kinda thought how dumb that would be to have to help someone out that wasn't making good choices. But thats what we do I guess. PS fishing was slow, The wind sure wasn't.
