Default The Insanity is coming to us.

Mt. Michener, named after one of our Lieutenant Governors used to be known as Phoebe's Teat.

https://globalnews.ca/news/7126290/b...n-trail-names/

Alberta’s climbing community is making a push to change some controversial names for both mountains and rock climbing trails in the province.

Some of the names being noted as in need of change include a mountain that is known as Squaw’s Tit near Canmore, as well as a series of trails in the Bow Valley called The White Imperialist near Grassi Lakes which also features sub-routes with names like No Tickee No Laundry, Chinatown Left and Chinatown Right.

There are also some with sexist names in the province, for example, another trail in the Bow Valley called Naked Teenage Girls.

“Some of them are derogatory, they’re racist, they’re sexist,” Brandon Pullan, the editor of Gripped Climbing Magazine, said.

The push for the names to be changed has been going on for several years, according to Pullan

It's becoming a joke but I don't hear anyone screaming to change "Whiteman's Pass" or "Deadman's Flats". I'm sure there are some dead whitemen who are surely offended.

I suspect that those names are not official names so it’s really just a tempest in a teapot.

The reference to that is in the series of books written by Clarence Ravio. Apparently Phoebe was a barmaid in Nordegg.

I don’t think you can call someone a barmaid anymore. It’s Alcoholic beverage express delivery consultant

Wait what????
Are you saying your dear leader who has shut down your borders, went into hiding ( perhaps pouting over the UN snub ) took your guns, spends your money as poorly as our leaders, but came out just to go to that funeral of no one in the US?
Ya just can’t make this stuff up.

I thought so too but she was at his side for the Canada Day Address. They both looked at each other like newlyweds. Then again actors are actors. The kids were not in the show...apparently they were helping weed the Food Bank Farm. Yeah..right...

I heard about this on the news. The only real answer would be to rip out the rail way at least the CPR. That is how to show respect I've heard take down statues remove flags why not remove rail ways.

I think some people need jobs to take their minds off of stupidity.

Exactly 👆 ❗

Most (if not all) of those names being objected to, are not found on any official maps or registries.

And just to prove the point ...
I'm going to step out of my house, and randomly point to an unknown mountain off in the distance. And then with a loud voice, I'm going to shout; "I now name this mountain; 'Yer Momma's Derrière'" ...and I'll say it three times, just to make it 'official'.

Any objections ❓

Hmm Think of the dirt bike and ATV trails we could have if the tracks were pulled.

If FN people hadn't signed the treaties there would never have been a CPR rail across Canada. If the trains would never have come west we'd probably still have buffalo on the open range. And the CPR wouldn't have been given 25 million acres of Canadian land. And Canada wouldn't have 'needed' 15K Chinese temporary foreign workers to build the rail.

Interestly corrupt, the contract to build the railway was tainted. In 1873 the guy that got the contract had actually donated 350K to the conservative party's election campaign. When this was found out Sir John MacDonald's conservative government was forced to resign.
