Anyone catch the Habitat for Humanity protest on Global news last night?
All those new Canadians that applied for free housing?

Interesting......

Happy Canada Day Eve!!!!

How do you use a word like apoplectic and then the wrong "your" together in a sentence....

Ummm. Free housing is kind of what Habitat for Humanity is for...

Next thing you're going to hate on lottery ticket buyers for trying to get "free" money.

I guess haters are going to hate...

I won't be celebrating Canada Day but remembering the sacrifice Newfoundlander's (I say Nfld'rs because they were not Canadians) of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment made on July 1st 1916 during the Battle of Beaumont Hamel in WW1. Over 800 men went over the top and 68 answered roll call the next day. A sad but proud day for Newfoundlanders.

Lottery ticket buyers actually finance the lottery.

It's true although realistically nobody buys a lottery ticket and expects a realistic or reasonable probability of winning.

I would think getting a home through Habitat for Humanity is a bit of crap shoot too. And my understanding of it is that you do have to carry and pay a mortgage on those homes too.

What I don't get is how anyone can be so damaged and cynical that they could actually somehow begrudge a low income family ("new" Canadian or otherwise) from getting a home through Habitat for Humanity... In a Canada Day thread no less.

Habitat for Humanity families put in sweat equity and take on a mortgage to pay for their housing. The society gives people of limited resources a chance to get into good housing. Good housing is a start for a lot of better social results.
I am another guy who does not understand the need to slag people who are trying to better themselves with help from the community.
A better Canada only comes about if people help each other.

Happy Canada Day everyone!
I don't care what anyone says I would rather be here than " there"!

Happy C-Day .... for those here who forgot the words. I'm not bilingual, there's a French version on Google.

Have a cheers, & love your country, there's no other.

D.

Official lyrics ...

O Canada!
Our home and native land
True patriot love
In all our sons command
With glowing hearts
We see thee rise
The True North, strong and free
From far and wide
O Canada
We stand on guard for thee
God keep our land
Glorious and free
O Canada we stand on guard for thee!
O Canada we stand on guard for thee!

The problem with any politics is it is all vote buying rather than the true message. Turd has mastered that and knows he has already bought enough of the votes and imports more votes. No politician survives without winning. Campaigns that promise to spend the most money or have the most money while running generally win. Look around the world, most leaders are very wealthy. Changing career from whatever to politican takes some solid financial stability as losing means losing all. I truly believe this is why our career politicians care less about the true message and more about being voted in and will do anything for that.

As far as moving to a different country, it is not as easy as just packing up and leaving as some suggest. If it was that easy I think there would be a decent exodus from at least the West and Southern Ontario. Immigration without marriage is a pretty tricky thing to pull off in almost any country, regardless of educated or not.

I truly hope it never comes to civil war, but if it was the case I would be hard pressed to put on a uniform from Ottawa unless things change. A statement I could never even ponder before Turd took office.

I truly worry for my kids and grandkids futures. Where if you're not a minority in some form or other you're an oppressor and should be condemned and be thankful on how privileged you are.

I will be taking the day off and be receiving pay, so I can experience what it is like to be a " New Canadian" now though. not....gotta work.

Yep, the great thing about this country is you can whine, criticize, stand on your soapbox, pound your chest, tell other’s to leave, call down your county, and fight with each other on every subject. Seems we have a pretty solid group of Canadian right here, and that’s a good thing. I mean that with no disrespect. Happy Canada Day.
