With all respect I must disagree. And I'll give you my reasons.

I love wilderness and nature but I do not live in the country any longer for reasons partly beyond my control. Spent years of my life out of the city. Did not want to move to the city. But life events forced me to do what I thought I would never do. And I have adjusted. But given my first choice I would live in the country again because that's what I love.

And second, even though I live in the city I take no joy in having neighbors mere feet from me. Many grief's come about when people get packed tight together. Personally, I'd rather have space but can't achieve that existence so I do what I must. People don't live in cities just so they can have neighbors. I NEVER hang out at the mall (but I have been inside one: very rarely) despite living 20 minutes from a big one. I stay away from them with all my might.

So it's not so cut and dried. A lot of people who live in a city or town do really love nature. And people don't move to a city or town because they love neighbors and malls. I wish we all could live in our ideal environment, but often we don't.

Default Wiau winterkill

I have been told the Wiau has again winterkill. A friend was there on Thursday, dead fish all over the the bottom of the lake. Sad, it will take some time again for this lake to recover. Anyone hear of any other lakes winterkilling this year?

I was there Tuesday and a pal and I never got a sniff from any fish. I popped about 30 holes and we called it quits. Everyone else on the ice was having the same luck also so it could be true.

Sounds like people need to look at the big picture. Limits shoud be water body specific and that will fix many problems. Err on the side of prudent management and lower limits when anticipating higher pressure.

We should all be encouraging fishing versus setting up a them versus us mentality.

Default Winter Kill

3 of use were at Wiau on Tuesday and Wedensday, not a bite, talked to everyone on the lake both days, no one had a bite. I punched a couple of hole by shore and even the fresh water shrimp came up dead.

Shes dead, winter killed, I will miss all the big perch.

If it truly winter killed all the guys whining about it being THEIR lake and a big secret can take a seat......better to have those fish caught and eaten then becoming detritus on the bottom in the mud.....right?

Default No Fish WOW

Jafo, I do not have directions to the lake you are interested in, I have never been there. Do not be sorry for the post you submitted, I myself learned an important lesson many years ago from a wise old man (Dad) he had the lets have a small taste mentality, yes keep a couple, come back next week, month, year and there should be somthing there for you to sample again.

Don't be a slabber, see them all the time, as many as quick as you can get them, fill the freezer, poor teachers.

Sounds like you are lucky to have parents that like to spend time outdoors fishing and such, this would be a much better world if everyone spent time doing these type activities, it is just to bad there are so called " sportsmen " who have to take everything every time they get out, not much sport in that.

Good luck fishing
