Default Leupold RX-1000 rangefinder

I am looking at picking up this model used...this is just the rx-1000, not the rx-1000i or the TBR model...I was wondering what you guys think of this unit and what realistic distance you can range a deer at? Specs say 600 yards...My RX-600 can range deer to 250-300 yards max...looking to upgrade...
Thanks

I can usually get out to 450-500 yards fairly easy, after that it becomes dicey depending on your backstop. It's a nice compact little unit that works well for me. No complaints...

I have one and really like it.

The target depends on what your ranging. I've ranged barns and large things around 1300 yards with mine. Deer and other critters though is normally about half what it says it can do.
