Default One FLY to use all year everywhere.

I know we have done this before but there are new people here all the time and there is the "one hook" thread going.

So if you had to use ONE fly all year everywhere what would it be?

I used to almost do this. I tied a couple sizes of muddler minnow. Some were weighted (with lead wire)to fish wet and others were to fish dry. They seemed to work pretty well all year and everywhere.

Hm great question. If I had to use only one fly it would be my creation the Ridgeback. It's probably the best fly I have ever created, bar none. I have caught more fish on that one fly in the last 5 years. Than I have in the previous 10 years with all other flies combined. A lot of friends of mine have also had great luck with it as well. Some have tried to copy it and have done an admiral job with good success as well.

Tough call as it would depend on the specific water one is consistantly fishing...

For the Bow: #8 wire SJW (or a close 2nd a #14 "BH FB PT").

best fly ever created. It's been around for centuries for good reason. Keep your leeches and Bow River Buggers and give me a GRHE every time.
