Default Long Shot - Finding Original Coonhound Owner

Hi guys, gals,

I know this is a long shot, but I am trying to track down my dogs original owner. I got him at the Edmonton Humane Society in August. They said he was roaming around Thorhild, AB as a stray and that he's 3. I think he's closer to 5 years old or so. He's a very well built dog, sturdy and calm.

Anyway, I traced a Kijiji ad from 2012 (in the Bawlf area) to this forum. I am just incredibly curious as to where he came from. He's an excellent and well behaved dog. His prey drive is pretty good, but he seems to have a bit of a distracted nose and isn't as vocal as he could be which is probably why he was re-homed as a pet as opposed to a hunting dog.

Anyways, I know this is a long shot, but I thought I'd try anyway. I'm just incredibly curious.

Here's a photo: http://i.imgur.com/VMEUcl9.jpg

Thanks!

Rosie

That is one beautiful dog. I have to ask what you want him to scent. His nose will trail pretty much anything he just needs you to show him or train him which one you want him to follow.

Smile As an aside

Good job adopting. Looks like a great dog. And if you care enough to do this search you obviously care for him.
Good luck on your search.

As much fun as it would be, I don't think I want to use him for hunting. I'm sure he'd enjoy trying though! I let him scent out rabbits here in Edmonton, he seems to enjoy that.

I'm really just wondering where he came from. I haven't seen any other Coonhounds in Edmonton.

I appreciate it. He's a handsome devil and he knows it. I lucked out in finding him, that's for sure.

I have seen 2 black and tans like yours in Edmonton. I have a bluetick and know of another.
Hounds make great hunting dogs and even better companions, they're getting more popular.

Find the owner, he might want it back. Hounds are known for wandering long distances and getting lost.

Haha, yeah I considered this. If it makes the dog happy, well, how can I argue?

Hounds are amazing, they're basically the perfect dog for people who hate drama. Not too mention they're darn cute! I'd love for Copper to meet other hounds though, I hear hounds love their own kind
