Default Frustrated with golf

So I'm sittin' up here with my Wife a couple weeks back and say, "man this 40 below sux....lets go to BC and play a little golf." To my surprise she says yes....book a couple points tickets and off we go.

Now, if you know me I'm not really good at golf. First round I'm comin' up 18 and I'm 2 under....first time ever. I wound up 3 putting for bogey.....typical, but I'm 1 under

I played two more rounds over the next couple day and just hack it up......like 15 over par. Freakin' geese all over the course......wasn't like that the other day.

Can someone please tell me what happened???......thinkin' of giving it up. Any advice would be appreciatted.

Default doing it all wrong

My fearless leader leaves today for 10 days in Phoenix. that way if the round doesn't go well you relax in the sun with a drink and don't care.

If putting is the problem, I would recommend reading Dave peltz putting bible. I read it this summer and it made me so much more consistent.

The guy who usually scares the geese away couldn't make it. Seems he fell onto someone's boot.

I never could see the charm in golf. a 200 lb guy hits a ball with a stick to try to knock it into a hole so far away he can't see it......then walk. Really????

I tried it once till I found out the ball washer wasn't what I imagined. a guy could get hurt just climbing up on that thing.

The worst thing about golf is not doing it enough

You are not really good at golf but coming up 18 you are 2 under ??? Mini Golf ??? 90% of golfers can't break 100.

Someone once told me that golf is the Scotish word for frustration. I am inclined to believe them every time I go out on the course.

lol.....OK....everyone needs to re-read my attempt at a joke. Except Oko and Redfrog......apparently they get my "sense of humour"

ps....and the reason it's called "golf" is that by the time they figured out how to play it all the other 4 letter words were used up.

A very attractive young lady decides she wants to pick up golf.

So it's a busy saturday and she gets teamed up with three men.

All day she's hacking away just playing awefull, they get to the 18th hole and she has a 30ft putt left. She turns to the 3 gentlemen and says I'll sleep with the one of you who can help me with this put.

Guy #1 says oh yeah for sure down hill to the left just tap it.

Guy #2 says sweetie no no down hill to the right slightly.

Guy #3 says "Thats a Gimmie".

Thats all the golf humor I have.

the best golf I played was coming out of high school. I could pound those drives straight as an arrow and a bounce or two into the back screen in Sherwood Park. Once in Vancouver, and averaging 2 games a week, I could nail any putt closer than 20 feet. But alas, generally speaking, my game has only gottin' worse. After many years of internal agonizing, I decided it's just a game and good for the walk.

Golf is an exercise in fortitude.
Hiking up a mountain, in 2 ft of snow and shooting a sheep is a way easier than doing a drive...approach shot...and a 1 put....3 times in a row.

My advice to improving your game?
Give yourself a mulligan and a gimmie every hole and you'll see instant results...

I miss the game, but life doesnt allow for it at this time.

Perhaps when the kids get older I can pick it up again. Lots of fun times out on the courses.

Haha, I get it now. You wanna hear a real tear jerker? I been playing for 25 years and my best round is 82. One day on a par five I hit a good drive ,for me, about 260 ish. Grabbed the 3 and CRUSHED it. On the green about 20 ft away. You guessed it 3 friggen putts on my first and only real Eagle attempt.

Ps You hacked up the other rounds cause you were thinking about the -2 or -3. But thats what keeps us coming back.

lol....I'm better with the sticks than the putter as well. I'm a bogey golfer so you'ld take my money. Might have given ya run when I was in College.....haven't played to a few years. Kinda hard to get excited about playing on a course that has articial greens, 10yds of turf around them an sand fairways

Makes for clean clubs though.

I find golf much more entertaining when I have spent as much money with the beer cart and in the clubhouse as I have invested in my clubs....JK

I spend most of my time in Kelowna in the summers and the cart girls there are great. Some know us and let us have their cell numbers so they are just a quick call away.

A wise man once told me he could not teach me how to hit a golf ball 300 yards - but he could teach me how to hit a golf ball 'AT' 300 yards. It was a good choice in the long run.

Golf is a game of inches. The six inches between your ears!

I have been playing since I was about ten, not very well at all. As the years pass, I affirm my enjoyment comes from what I can try to do with my ball on a terrific course, not so much what that terrific course can do to my ball!

The hardest part is the puny guys who can kill it all day on the course and take specific nerdy glee in cutting down the big guys for struggling along the way.

The best part is early morning tee off.

Well, that and the cart girls of course
