Default Careful guys..another one in the drink

Went down to Sante to see how things were this afternoon. A lifted F350 was driving along the lake, made it a couple hundred yards past me and put it through the ice. Front end only at first, everyone got out, a little later she was down to the bumpers. Seemed to hang up there, so hopefully she doesn't drop further. Ice was at least 18 inches where I was, apparently not quite enough for that truck.

Where is that at? Not familiar with "Sante"
I drive a lifted F350 as well and was on the lake today...21-22" of good quality ice up north here.

With 18" of ice elsewhere, springs or beaver runs come to mind first. I've heard beaver activity can cause thin ice but im not sure.

I just googled it quickly and lots of realtor listings saying spring fed which is what I was told by a guy with a trailer out there. I have driven on there before but this makes me wonder about doing it again now. I would be interested to know where he went threw if op is willing to share.

I suspected possible spring, but wasn't sure. I have been on that lake several times this year and lots in the past, was never worried till today! This was on the North side boat launch, about 200 yards east of the launch and about in the middle of the lake, where it narrows. Pic taken down the road where I could get a better view, didn't want to run over and start taking pics, seemed a bit insensitive..
