Muskie in Alberta
What if Muskie were put in Alberta, would you be happy, sad, hyped to fish for them, I mean I would sure be happy and hyped to fish for them, tell me what you think.

Where would you put these Muskies?
Why wouldn't we experiment with our native watersheds ........ seems to have worked well in the past. Our native Westslope Cutthroats can attest to that.
All sarcasm aside - I would definitely want to ensure their distribution is isolated in a constrained watershed.
They would be fun to catch.

Crappie would be a ton o fun and would make taking kids fishing a more productive enterprise consistently.

Umm I might be wrong... But if they are native to Alberta are they not actually eastlope cuttys?

About a century ago channel cats were present higher up in the Saskatchewan drainage system, and were present in some of Alberta's rivers. I can't remember why the populations receded back out east.

that would be interesting, perhaps carolside resevoir, I think that is cut off from other waterbodies, see if they would do well out here maybe.

Nothing like finding baby cat fish - they look almost like tadpoles and they stick pretty close together too.

I would be sad if they somehow ended up in unwanted waters.

If there used to be channel cats in the Sask river system, they were probably eliminated when the NS river was dammed further east.
It would only take a year or two for the spawning migrations to be altered.
The Qu'Appelle river in Saskatchewan has channels. The biggest recently was 16 lb. caught in 1999.

I think muskies in hasse would be ok...they could aerate the lake to decrease the chance of winterkill...the only problem is food...guess there would just have to be tons of crappies and pumpkinseeds too
