Where would you put these Muskies?

Why wouldn't we experiment with our native watersheds ........ seems to have worked well in the past. Our native Westslope Cutthroats can attest to that.

All sarcasm aside - I would definitely want to ensure their distribution is isolated in a constrained watershed.

They would be fun to catch.

About a century ago channel cats were present higher up in the Saskatchewan drainage system, and were present in some of Alberta's rivers. I can't remember why the populations receded back out east.

Default Hard to believe

But this looks like another specie for that Hot Bed of fishing action...

With those growth hormones coming out of the packing house water

I can Hardly wait for the headlines

". Frank Lake Musky devours Hereford "

Women and children not safe ......Sturgeon King called in

To make lake safe again ..

Or just more perch in more places and less trout stocking.

those would be great fun to catch again too. even wee ones can put up a huge battle
Nothing like finding baby cat fish - they look almost like tadpoles and they stick pretty close together too.

This is a sub species - not a description of their geographical distribution necessarily.

I would be happy to catch them.(yes in concentrated watershed)
I would be sad if they somehow ended up in unwanted waters.
I would be hyped to see my name first under "largest Alberta Muskie, caught 2014"

If there used to be channel cats in the Sask river system, they were probably eliminated when the NS river was dammed further east.
It would only take a year or two for the spawning migrations to be altered.

The Qu'Appelle river in Saskatchewan has channels. The biggest recently was 16 lb. caught in 1999.

I think muskies in hasse would be ok...they could aerate the lake to decrease the chance of winterkill...the only problem is food...guess there would just have to be tons of crappies and pumpkinseeds too

Well I've never fished Hasse before and if they were to put muskie in their would it be deep enough for them to survive the winters?

I can get behind this.

Crappies, Bluegill, or pumpkin seed.
