Not sure of the nature of his medical issues, but I hope it had nothing to do with hoisting absurdly large rabbits

Default Update

I was in to visit Dave today and he is in good humor but completely exhausted . This whole trauma is related to his battle with Crohn's . He had a severe attack last week and he said his doctor compared it to your colon having a heart attack, as it basically ruptured. He is lucky to be alive from the sounds of it. He will have a some serious recovery to do but anyone who knows him ,knows what a tough guy he is and he will pull through this.
I asked him about whether he would like some visitors but he prefers not at the moment as he is just so tired and kept busy with specialist and others at him throughout the day. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers and he is very appreciative of that

My heart sank when I saw this thread!
So relieved to hear he's out of the hospital and on the mend. Truly one of the best - anyone having the pleasure of meeting him and his wife would agree. We're praying for a quick recovery for you Dave and hope to get in a visit when you're feeling up for it

Thanks for all the get well wishes everyone it means a lot OOOOs
I’ll be in the hospital for an unknown amount of time yet and I’m in a lot of pain still and very tired wiped out etc....... this is the worst bowel event I’ve ever had and am actually very lucky to have survived it, the odds weren’t very good for me it I beat them somehow. I can’t have much for visitors etc for awhile because they want me resting and doing the recovery thing right now. I’ll let you all know how things progress, right now I’m not even allowed to lift more than five pounds as well as other restrictions for now. They basically opened up my entire abdomen and I have over fifty staples holding it together right now from one long incision and other places with stitches etc inside as well. Time for me to call it a night though, thanks again for all the support
Ttyl everyone

Great to hear from you Dave! Once you get better I have a few lantern orders coming your way. Wow, you're held together like Edward Scissorhands! Can't imagine the pain and discomfort. If our small words help you a bit, we're all happy to pitch in. You get your rest and get better.

mb - I think I can identify a bit with the way you are feeling (my scar is 9” long). Don’t BS them about “feeling OK” if you aren’t. The best part about my recovery was eating ice cream topped with syrup to put back the 30lbs I lost. Wishing you the best with your recovery.

Hey everyone thanks again for all the well wishes etc
I’m slowly improving and the drs are happy with how I’m doing and I’m able to get up and move around a bit more and more each day. I have a long recovery ahead of me yet but I’m just taking it one day at a time for now. I’m still totally exhausted and quite sore but that’ll pass in time.

Smile

Hi everyone
Well I got released and am at home resting now and it sure feels good to be back in my own bed. I have a long recovery ahead of me and will have to see some new specialist's in the coming months and then hopefully in about six months I will be able to have some corrective surgery to help me get back to my own self again. Thanks again for all the well wishes etc. I’ll keep you all up to date as things progress. I’ve been sleeping lots and it’ll be sometime before I’m able to get out and about again. OOOOs

Glad your home Mud. Being in a familiar bed and around things you love help in the recovery. Just don't push yourself.
