When I think smaller, flat, and fast 257 Weatherby comes to mind.

Yep 257 bee or 25-06. Both pleasant to shoot but I can’t really tell the difference from one to the other in terms of performance.

I have a 300 WM and a 6.5X55

I couldnt be happier with the two calibers. I absolutely love the 6.5X55

I'd look into a 25-06 or a 6.5x55. I have an open sight Swedish Mauser and she's delightful to shoot. I really want a 25-06 but don't see it reasonable with having 2 .243's and a 6.5x55. Good luck on your search.

A 6.5 x 55 or a 7-08 will compliment your 300WM very nicely. Both are very accurate and (with the right bullet) capable of taking deer, elk and moose st the distance you specified.

If you already have a varmint gun then I would look at a 25-06.
Definitely easy to shoot- my kids use mine for deer, elk and moose when I’m with them. Excellent flat shooting caliber.
