Default Shore Fishing - south calgary

Hi. We are new to fishing in Calgary area. Any suggestions on where to shore fish with pickeral rig south of calgary.

Like walleye, pike perch... not as fond of trout, but will try.

Looking for max 2 hour drive would be great if rv campground near.

I've heard of chain lakes, but that's about it.

Was at Chain Lakes today. Tried pickerel rigs and small spinners and only had 1 nibble on some corn. You could see some fish jumping where we were but no luck. Guy down the way had a few small trout. There is a campground there wwith power only. Will try Pine Coulee Resevoir west of Stavely next. Supposedly some pike and walleye in there.

Default South of town

We are regulars at Pine Coulee (walleyes, pike, burbot) and sometimes Clear Lake (Pike). Same distance to both but one is on west side of hiway2 one off to the east. Twin Valley dam is just before on the east side as well for pike and I have heard a few walleyes. Head over to hiway 1 to Bassano area to Crawling valley. Big walleyes, keeper size pike with a few monsters, big burbots. Badger lake is also another with monster pikes, as well as Traverse. Lots of good fishing and camping is at most of the above. You just have to learn the lakes.
