not enough info here...

was if running loose and harassing livestock => justified.

was it hanging around the shop and some psychopath shot it => effin loser!

An awful lot of big game was killed with the .30-06 including the big bears before everyone became affluent enough to own a rifle for every species of game they might hunt.
