Yup.

Some groomers do it as well.... might be cheaper if you have a mutt that needs a doo from time to time.

And honestly guys... is it any grosser than "de-waxing" a horse?

For 35 bucks have at that dogs anal gland

I have never got a bill from a vet that cheap.
Thank god the wife doesn't have anymore yorkies.
It was part of a $400 bill, but when I've taken him in before it's always been $35. That's at the vet in Lloyd. Think the vet in Edmonton charged me $40. Used to get them done at the groomers but lots have stopped. If done incorrectly it can be a serious issue for the dog. Like somebody said, it's a necessary evil.

Yep my wife had to do it to one of our dogs. In fact the vet had to do it a couple of times to the same dog. If the dog gets to dragging the butt then you know something is up.

If your going to have a dog as a pet, be ready. Its just a thing that must be done from time to time, weather you do it or you pay someone to do it. Get on with it.....

It would have to be obstructing his vision before I entertained any notion of doing that.

When Fido starts to do the ass dash across the rug, it's time for a one way trip to the bush.

Our dog used to have this issue as well. We went to the vet and they expresses them and showed us how to do it. Said no way I'll bring her into you to do it!

We met a lady in a pet store though and she recommended pumpkin in her diet. We bought a can of it and a few scoops in each meal for a week and we never had to do it again. We also went to a natural dog food which probably helped as well. It was called "NOW".
