257 and 240 wby
Well my guns arrived today pretty exited only ammo in for 257 is the 90 gmx anyone use these for deer and elk? Would like to site in this weekend

The gmx is a well built bullet, 90gr should be plenty for deer, however you will probably want to try something a little heavier for elk.

I've shot a couple elk and a moose with my 257, but I was using 115 grain ballistic tips. Shot placement is everything.

I use the TTSX's in my WBY 257, I have shot moose, elk and deer, they will break the near side shoulder and tear up the vitals, but will not break the far side shoulder on moose and elk. As for deer, they will destroy both shoulders on a deer, even out to 350 yards. So the GMX will most likely do the same.

Gmx is a flat base bullet, prefer the 80 grain ttsx myself

Actually, most GMX are boat tail bullets.

It is definitely a boat tailed bullet. Another option is to go to a 110 gr inter-bond or Accu- bond.

The 90 grain Hornady GMX is a flatbase. BC is poor though. They shoot good in my Vanguard!

Post a pic of the 90 gr Gmx , it's described in the #8 manual as a boat tail. Weird why Hornady would describe and have pics of a BT and its got a FB. Just curious .

I'm sorry I am almost totally computer illiterate so I can't post a picture. Just take my word for it. They are a flat base bullet. I have a box in my basement.

257 is in sporter for me and she got the vanguard as thats what she wanted. Thanks guys gotta find a place near by that sells the weatherby ammo

If you shoot much it won't take long to pay for reloading stuff,, weatherby ammo is hurtful to buy.

You are absolutely correct, the dirty buggers show it and the 80 gr 6mm as boattails in the # 8 manual and I see the web site does show them as flat base . Looks like I'll be sticking with 75 gr v-Max for yotes.
And for the OP take a good look at the 110 gr offerings out there in 25 cal. There is bound to be something you'll like. My BIL still uses the 117 gr Sierra GK out of his 257 bee. A few moose and several deer he has taken with that combo.
